Tea Shop Meets Downton Abbey

This month marks the release of the quintessential English movie Downton Abbey. Like many similar movies and shows that depict this time, Downton Abbey celebrates the ceremony of making tea.

When the Dowager Countess of Grantham (played by Maggie Smith) invites family members and acquaintances around for tea, it is always a time for reflection across an intimate setting. This ritual takes place at around 4pm, making it a “low tea” (as opposed to a high tea!)

This tradition, while so prominent during World War 1 among royals, has infiltrated modern tea drinkers use of drinking tea as an act of meeting and reflection. This month, have a conversation with your loved ones over a pot of our tea, and use the intimate setting to forge connections like the royals before us!
