About us
Our tea journey began in the heart of the Himalayas, while my mum was living in Kathmandu. We trekked through the Annapurna region, where we had the incredible opportunity to learn the craft of making chai from the local communities. This experience planted the seeds of our deep love for tea and its rich origins.
Fast forward ten years, and that passion led us to start our own tea shop, inspired by the knowledge and experiences we gained while traveling throughout Southeast Asia. We began with just three blends, grew to five, and now proudly offer 11 unique, handcrafted loose-leaf teas and herbal infusions. Each one is carefully packaged in compostable or reusable materials, reflecting our commitment to quality and sustainability.

It's simple! We source ingredients from ethical, organic, sustainable and like-minded suppliers who truly care about how they treat people and the environment.
Sustainability
Tea Shop was born in Byron Bay, and remains a 100% family owned and operated business. We created Tea Shop from a love of tea and now, based on the Sunshine Coast, we're producing the same range of unique, organic and sustainably sourced blends that you’ll find are different to any other tea you’ve tried.
We roast and blend in small batches – nothing is mass produced. Our nine blends are then packaged in recycled, reusable or compostable packaging that is air and lightproof to ensure absolute freshness and quality.
With over 20 years of practice blending teas and experimenting with flavours, we love talking tea, helping friends and customers get the most from our products and sharing a cuppa in the traditional way (no tea bags here!).
